DD-STROBE creates a major breakthrough in reducing air pollution from diesel engines, since incorrect timing of diesel fuel injection, due to component wear, is a major factor in producing black exhaust smoke and invisible toxic emissions.

Correct diesel fuel injection timing is crucial for full engine power and fuel economy AND greatly influences exhaust emissions affecting air quality.

NZ automotive mechanics who have been made aware of DD-STROBE are keen to start using one. They tell us they are reluctant to use the current tools, because they are too difficult and time consuming to set-up correctly. They also avoid using spill or dial gauge methods, because these methods usually fail to account for inevitable component wear.

DD-STROBE has been refined and tested over the past 4 years. DD-STROBE has proven accurate, portable, robust and easy to use without the need for correction factors. Reading and adjusting the timing of most engines fitted with common hydraulic diesel fuel injectors and rotary pumps takes about 20 minutes using a DD-STROBE.

DD-STROBE is best suited to dynamic timing (with the engine running), but can include simply cranking of an engine if starting is not desired, or if a fueled engine will not start.

DD-STROBE dynamic timing indicates the effects of wear on injection pumps, wear on "cold start" devices and wear on "advance retard" mechanisms. This wear detection aspect highlights which fuel injection parts require replacement, or adjustment.

DD-STROBE is simply fitted to most types of diesel engines with common hydraulically operated fuel injectors, regardless of size. A strobe-light flash is pointed at the TDC timing marks on the crankcase, in the same way as a spark signal strobe-light is used on petrol engines. After use, DD-STROBE is removed from the engine. This simplicity and portability means that DD-STROBE is ideal for mobile tuning operations as well as in engine service garages.
