SAVE FUEL .. up to 16% on diesel
Two proven products, used concurrently, deliver big savings .. without you having to fit any expensive devices .. simply add FTC decarbonising combustion catalyst to your diesel fuel + add SupaSLIP friction reducer to your engine and transmission oils .. then drive as usual.
Independent Scientific test results show that:
#1 .. FTC catalytic fuel additive gives about 6-8% fuel savings .. click here for independent fuel studies on FTC
#2 .. SupaSLIP anti-friction oil and hydraulic additive delivers up to 8% fuel savings .. click here for independent fuel studies on SupaSLIP
Add #1 plus #2 and you can save up to 16% for diesel fuel ..
That means that after deducting the cost of both products, whilst using FTC at the maintenance dose of 1:1500, you get all the benefits of reduced wear, reduced smoke, reduced noise, reduced oil usage and increased power, whilst saving about 13.2 cents per litre of diesel (at the current diesel price of $1.50/L in NZ).
Please note that the above example is calculated from Independent Laboratory Tests using "clean" engines. Many of our customers report much greater fuel savings (up to 40%) which are likely due to the FTC oxidising internal carbon deposits, thus cleaning fuel injector tips, improving compression by deglazing cylinders and freeing piston rings, hence improving engine performance.

Independent diesel engine oil tests by Oil Check Pty Ltd, Sydney, Australia on this Auckland, NZ vehicle, confirm that even after 51,194km of mostly stop-start city driving, the diesel engine oil is still serviceable. Without FTC + SupaSLIP + DeSLUDGE the recommended oil change interval is 5,000km. There was no oil filter change and only 1.5L of oil top-up during the 51,194km test. DeSLUDGE (flushing oil concentrate) was used just prior to the previous engine oil change (hot oil), to ensure clean oil galleries and removal of harmful sludge/soot wear contaminants.
These results confirm earlier tests and are applicable to most diesel engines .. vehicle, marine or stationary.**
That's good news, we're sure you will agree.
Our test vehicle is a 1997 Toyota HiAce Regius 1KZ-TE (3L TD, 4WD) running with FTC catalytic fuel additive in the diesel fuel at about 1:1000, plus SupaSLIP anti-friction oil additive in the engine oil at 5ml/L. SupaSLIP is also in the auto-transmission, 4WD system and power steering hydraulics, which is incidental to these results, but reduces fuel usage by about 8% and extends component life.
Brid Walker, diesel engine expert from Cost Effective Maintenance Pty Ltd (CEM), Brisbane, Australia comments “The results are excellent. Not only are the wear metals very respectable for those kms, but the low soot and oxidation levels are outstanding for that type of diesel (engine).”

Please click on our test vehicle (Toyota HiAce Regius) to the right for full report details >>>>>
The left column headed 1144758 is the engine oil tested at 51,130km, the column headed 1036188A is the unused engine oil (as a control), the column headed 1036187B is the engine oil tested at 34,168km, the column headed 776039 is the engine oil tested at 22,210km.
As you can see, the oil test result is "STATUS Satisfactory", therefore we have decided to continue the test with the same engine oil for at least another 20,000km, before the next oil analysis.
What's in it for you .. when using FTC + SupaSLIP + DeSLUDGE?
Short term benefits are these ..
You will get immediate $$$ savings from reduced need to change diesel engine oil .. using the above case, then likely savings are as follows ..
7.2L oil per change @ $7.80/L = $56.16 .. plus replacement oil filter $33.80 .. plus garage service charge around $85 giving a total cost of around $175 (Toyota, Takapuna, Auckland estimate $180). If the oil had been changed every 5,000km as is commonly necessary, due to soot and wear contaminants (commonly seen as thick black oil in many stop-start city driving diesel engines) then 10 oil changes would have been done .. 10 x $175 = $1750.

Caterpillar D11R Dozer problems .. solved

Caterpillar 3500 Series engines were modified in approximately 2004 to meet new, low emission requirements.
Since then, there have been some concerning problems for operators. These include High Oil Soot, Bore Polish (glaze), Sludge and Overheating. Factors reportedly at blame include the introduction of Monotherm Pistons, Exhaust Gas Recirculation Systems and high load factors.
While the full range of Caterpillar 3500 Series engines could potentially show problems, D11R dozers appear to be the more widely susceptible.
Australia's leading expert on resolving carbon deposit related engine problems, Cost Effective Maintenance (CEM) recommend
FTC catalytic decarboniser and DeSLUDGE FOC flushing oil concentrate to rectify engine deposit problems .. ranging from heavy combustion and exhaust space carbon, to injector fouling and severe crankcase sludging.
Bore polish (glaze), valve failures, broken rings and exhaust smoke are common end results of such deposits, but if addressed early enough, our corrective action will avert such damage by eliminating hard engine carbon and sludge.

The problems and necessary corrective and preventative maintenance are described below.
1. HIGH OIL SOOT.
Oil soot is a product of combustion inefficiencies.
Increasing oil soot levels usually result from the amount of soot progressively overloading the oil's detergency/dispersency package.
Soot drops out of the oil as sediment, which is then re-suspended into the clean oil. This reduces the oil's potential service life and allows further soot to settle out as sludge, as the oil service life progresses.
Loss of detergency allows further piston ring deposits to form, which in turn, will reduce oil control. Oil burning can add to deposit problems. Increased oil "make up" (additives) may also mask the actual magnitude of the soot problem, by diluting the soot readings.
Exhaust gas recirculation (in low emission engines) puts further soot loadings into the oil.
Corrective action. A twofold action is required to correct and control this problem.
A. Any soot/sludge residing in the crankcase needs to be removed, so as to provide full available service life to the oil (instead of depleting its additive package from the start). This is achieved with our DeSLUDGE FOC (flushing oil concentrate), which is formulated with specific detergents that target hard, baked on carbon and persistent sludge. DeSLUDGE FOC is added into clean, hot crankcase oil .. then the engine is operated at a fast idle for about 30 minutes.
DeSLUDGE FOC action re-suspends sludge and hard carbon (eg piston ring deposits), so that full cleanliness is restored to the crankcase. In addition, full available compression control and oil control are restored. Once the re-suspended contaminants are drained and the oil filter changed, the new charge of oil has full available service life.
In severe cases, FOC may have to be incorporated into the maintenance schedule at certain intervals. FOC has a 15 year history of restoring crankcase cleanliness in chronic high soot, grossly sludged engines and in freeing up badly stuck piston rings (even in engines out of service for 3-5 years).
B. Both soot production rate and its rate of migration past the rings into the crankcase need to be reduced. This is achieved using the FTC Combustion Catalyst (Decarbonizer).
The action of FTC is twofold. Firstly, it catalytically oxidizes (burns) all engine carbon contacted by the fuel flame. This includes carbon in top rings and piston top land areas, as well as carbon on injector tips, piston crowns, cylinder heads, exhaust valves and spaces, turbochargers and further downstream in the exhaust system. Piston top land cleanliness is a strong feature of FTC use and is the direct cure for bore polish (glaze) problems.
Secondly, the combustion reactions with FTC proceed more efficiently, resulting in a marked lowering of the soot production rate. Lower soot production, combined with an improved top ring seal result in less oil soot loading. Continuous fuel treatment is required and leads to restoration of full available service life for severe bore polish (glaze) situations.

2. BORE POLISH (glaze), PISTON TOP LAND CARBON.
Accumulation of hard carbon on piston top ring lands causes premature and costly liner wear. The source of the carbon is primarily from fuel combustion inefficiencies, but oil burning can also add to the build up. Customers are reporting bore polish related engine rebuilds from as low as 6000 hrs from brand new, and possibly lower. This is an extremely expensive problem, in terms of production downtime and component rebuild costs. Many engines are making less than half their expected service life, while in similar applications, engines using FTC Decarbonizer are trending out to 16,000hrs target life.
Corrective Action. It is important to treat this problem as early as possible…before liner wear becomes excessive.
As above, use of FOC and FTC Decarbonizer will restore full cleanliness and correct the root cause of the bore polish problem.

!
3. ENGINE OVERHEATING CAT D11R'S.
This is quite likely due to an escalation of the oil soot problem, where loss of detergency allows deposit build up around piston rings (reducing thermal conductivity) and under piston skirts (which insulates against heat transfer from this area) and constriction of oil supply to the piston undersides, due to sludging.
A strong flow of oil under the pistons is a vital part of the engine cooling system and one that is more often than not, neglected when investigating overheating problems.
The corrective action is the same as recommended above.
Should further cooling assistance be required, please consult your Caterpillar specialist.

Why is a ship or boat most times called "She" ?
Here are some of the reasons .. well, so we have heard.
-
There is always a great deal of bustle around her
-
There is usually a gang of men about
-
She has a waist and stays
-
It takes a lot of paint to keep her good looking
-
It is not the initial expense that breaks you, it is the upkeep
-
She can be all decked out
-
It takes an experience man to handle her correctly and without a man at the helm, she is absolutely uncontrollable
-
She shows her topsides, hides her bottom and when coming into port, always heads through the buoys
Something else we've heard ..
Insomuch as three fourths of the earth's surface is water

And only one fourth is land
The good Lord's intentions are very clear
A man's time should be divided
Three fourths for boating ..
And one fourth for work
